Got the idea for this from a post I made on the bbs, imo, these are the pros and cons of NG:

NG is a popular website, it has an automated submission and blamming system, it was one of the first popular flash portals on the web, and is the most copied site when it comes to it's portal system. It dominates all other flash ortals on the web, it's only equal contendor being flashportal.com. It's system practically runs itself and makes the jobs of the staff, all the more easier, but deep within this seemlessly great exterior lies a fatal flaw. This flaw stems from the same wonderful display of programming that contributed to it's success.

Tom Fulp no longer needs to run the website himself, he and Wade post updates, run events, and fix bugs, but they let mods do the work of monitoring audio submissions, the forum, and flash submissions. They, at least according to what I've examined, don't really look into how the mods are modding the portal and forums. Thus, they try to choose the most trustworthy and capable people.(badmaninc. was recently promoted to audio mod and is doing an excellent job)

When a submission gets voted high enough, to escape ban, it is not deleted. This is where the flaw comes into play. My theory is that, mods do not monitor or review submissions enough.(with the exception of the audio portal, which has always remained fairly swell from what I've examined) They let the system do most of the work. As such, when a submission gets high enough to escape ban, it isn't deleted, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER IT IS OF GOOD QUALITY.

This is the big problem of NG. Anyone can abuse the rating system, and this explains why there are loads of shitty submissions allowed to exist on the website. Flashportal.com, the most popular and one of the very first portals on the web, monitors the submissions, and has a rating system just like NG. But, unlike NG, if you notice, no poor quality animations are to be found. None. Why is this?

Next, we have the forum:

Indeed, if one were to ignore the forum, NG would appear to be near perfect. However, if we look at the forum, it has been allowed to turn into a steaming pile of shit. There are only on average, 2 productive discussions per month. The rest is a bunch of random topics that are cloned and repeated every week.(count it: EVERY WEEK) The members are allowed to spam and post sexist, racist, homophobic, anti-islamic, and anti-semetic comments, without so much as a warning.

The forum has been raided long ago by /b/ and 4chan retards. Comments include jokes containing heavy use of the N word, "rape her" comments, non-sensical jokes such as "barel roll", and "shoop da woop". Posting spam images, images of the aforementioned shoop da woop(an exaggerated cartoon interpretation of a black man with overly exagerrated features such as giant lips, shooting a lazer out of his mouth), insensitive posts and jokes. There is no original post or thread made, everything contributed on the forum is some repeat or rehashing of an argument that occured a week ago.

The forum is predominantly made up of 13 year olds, or people who act like 13 year olds, even though the site has an age restriction of 18 years of age.(or, in reality, 17 years of age, because lets face it, not many people over 18 can stand one min. on the forum)

It is not monitored and only a select few that are just bad enough, get deleted. While those that rehash old ideas, and spam the place up with non-sensical jibber jabber are allowed to occur.

This leads me to believe that:

the forums are severely neglected, the portal is severely abused, and people get all their friends to vote 5 on their submissions, so a majority of crappy submissions survive blamming, and the portal mods let these submissions go, because they have high enough ratings.

The only thing that is sufficiently monitored and for the most part free of spam is the audio portal. But then again, the audio portal has always been less about the highest quality submissions(tho most are fairly high quality, kudos to those skilled musicians on the site!), and more about people sharing their submissions in hopes of getting critique and advice on how to improve, thus it is the most positive aspect of the website.

This is just my theory on how NG became more of a cash cow to be milked for money, than a website completely dedicated to quality flash submissions.(there are a good number of high quality submissions, don't get me wrong, but NG is far from being COMPLETELY dedicated to quality submissions.)

Hope you enjoyed my insight on things. Lemme know what you think.

I originally posted this on the bbs, and decided to post this in my blog for more people to see:

"To hopefully put a stop to this sudden and retarded epidemic of emo bashing/emo uprising, we'll go through the facts and misconceptions on both sides to hopefully make everyone shut the fuck up about this shit. Emos are upset people are hating and stereotyping them, other people are confused, upset, and occasionally frightened by this sometimes annoying fad. Not to mention quite hateful.

Okay, now, you're probably wondering, "what is emo?" well:

"short for "emotional hardcore", was also used to describe the emotional performances of bands in the Washington DC scene and some of the offshoot regional scenes such as Rites of Spring, Embrace, One Last Wish,"

So we can confirm that emo was originally an offshoot to hardcore punk. Now we know where this musical style comes from. I actually took the liberty of listening to the above mentioned rites of spring, they're actually not a half bad band.

Which leads us the our next connundrum:

if emo originated from hardcore punk, how can bands like my chemical romance, who seem to be more closer to pop punk, be categorized as emo. Well, believe it or not, the only ties these later bands really have is to the scene, not the original musical style, which has since no longer existed as it once was.

Misconceptions:

emos cut their wrists.

Believe it or not, but claims and jokes about suicide and depression have been slapped on to practically every outcast/counter culture trend and fad. Goths were originally accused of being suicidal and worshipping satan, punks were accused of causing gang and street violence. The same is true of this fad, I believe.

However, it is not unreasonable to assume that depression and suicidal tendencies(lol), are not uncommon in these particular trends, especially considering most of these people are outcasts and join these trends for a place of belonging, to be a part with people who share their interests in music and fassion, and who are otherwise, less popular outside of these groups.

Perhaps the person is lonely, and picked on all the time. However, it is not entirely valid to assume that all members of such trends are suicidal, simply because of a few stereotypes. After all, african americans don't all eat chicken and watermelon.

Now, as to why some people may dislike emos:

Fassion:

emo's often borrow fassion styles from other genres with similar roots, such as goth or punk. Tight jeans, and black t-shirts. Dawning a mostly black outfit, obviously borrowed from goth, and colorful hair and face makeup, taken from punk rock.

However, there are some additions that tend to make people question the emo's sexuality. Particularly the fact that they wear tight pants, mix in bright and colorful colors with the black, such as pink.(I even once saw one with the exact same pink belt my sister has) even sometimes going as far as to borrow clothing from the female gender.

I actually saw a guy at round table with a girl sweater vest, shorts, and what looked to be black panty hose?(or some kind of tight black stretchy pants underneath. At first I mistook him for a short haired female, however, it soon became apparent that he was indeed a male.

The hair:

emos often wear their hair long, however, rarely do they let it grow down to the shoulders.(that's for metalheads! :))Cutting one side shorter, so as to have one long bang is also common. This bang is often worn over one eye.(most commonly, tho not exclusively, their left eye)

This is probably why most people dislike them. Now, there are the plain looking ones, sure, but many of the more female looking ones, it's obvious to see where all this hatred comes from. It's no surprise that the people who particularly hate on emos, are mostly metalheads, and mostly overtly heterosexual males.

Obviously, we heterosexual men are sickened by such sites, as it doesn't fit into our view of what manly is.(and I'm just as guilty for thinking this way) I mean, sweater vests and long bangs, is that manly? I think not.

There is also more gender confusion. For example, the band from first to last, which is an all male band, has had two of it's members french kiss on stage. However, the members themselves claim to all be straight, and even the fans of the band(who are obviously mostly emos), believe the same exact thing.

I am sorry emos, but you must understand, that is fucking confusing. To us macho men(pun intended), seeing two men kiss automatically=gay. No questions asked. It's one thing to kiss a man on the forehead, or even barely on the lips after being excited for winning the lottery or something, but to french kiss a man. A french kiss is a very intimate, very sexual type of kiss.

Now, it's not a problem if you're gay. I have nothing against homosexuals(in fact, my uncle is one himself) and wearing makeup doesn't automatically make you gay.(if it did, king tutankamen would have married a man, instead of his sister, lol) But when it comes to the aforementioned(pink belts, girl pants, and kissing on stage), it is very suggestive of such. VERY.

So, now I think we've taken care of all of this emo bullshit. Hopefully this has educated people on both sides, non-emos and emos alike and will keep future arguments, and retarded threads from sprouting up in the near future.(and god knows we've all gotten sick of them.)"

Going to teach you the way I learned how to play really fast, easily:

hard way:

play each note of the riff or solo slow and build up speed until you can play fast, without your picking hand and fretting hand going out of sync. Takes long ass time.

Easy way:

keep your picking hand playing at a regular pace, alternate picking, play 8 beats per note,in the riff. Your fretting hand with be moving at normal speed. When you're used to this, move up to 4 beats per note, then 2, then 1(where you'll be perfectly in sync with your picking).

It's easier this way because rather then having both hands trying to coordinate at once, you're just letting your picking hand do all the work and forcing your fretting hand to catch up, thus you learn how to play the riff faster much more quickly and effectively then you would the other method. This is also excellent if you want to play solos and such.

Hope this was helpful, and remember, speed is nothing if it doesn't sound clean. Keep practicing until it's perfect and concise, and most importantly, have fun!
